Mother's Day

This is our first Mothers Day since our Mom passed away, and it is a wonderful time to remember her and celebrate what a great Mom she was. Our Mom was not the traditional 50s and 60s Mom where the house was always clean, and dinner was always shared at the table. She was a Mom that was more about the golden rule "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." She taught us kindness, acceptance, respect, the faith of God and how to look at life with a sense of humor. She was a Mom for almost 70 years when she passed two months ago and I know it was the title she cherished the most.

I would like to think I learned how to be a Mom and Grandma from the Best! The older I get the more I appreciate how hard it was for her and Dad to raise 7 amazing children who are all productive and successful members of society. I can only hope to be a Mom for 70 years and that my children and grandchildren feel the same towards me as I feel about my Mom.

I miss you Mom and Happy Mother's Day.
This is a picture of my Mom that she sent to my Dad during WWII over 70 years ago. You can see she wrote on the bottom " All my Love, your wife. On the back she wrote a note  that says, " Well, Sweetheart just what do you think of this picture? Do you beleive that I am getting fat now?" She was expecting her first baby and must have been writing to Dad telling him she was getting fat. I think she looks beautiful and a perfect picture to share on Mother's Day!
