The lyrics are:
I understand about indecision,
But I don't care if I get behind,
People livin' in competition,
All I want is to have my peace of mind.
I sang:
I understand about indecision,
I don't care if I get behind,
People livin' in competition,
All I want is to grab a piece of the pie.
No, not pie like cherry pie, but grab a share of something. For me it works and makes perfect sense, but clearly the wrong lyrics. Not only was it wrong, but apparently hilarious to my car mates.
So, the one that I found out on my own, and was able to correct without ridicule, was "Layla" by Eric Clapton. Once again I did not know the name of the song was Layla, or I would have corrected myself many years earlier. I am a person who loves to sing and never knows the names of the song and who sings them. Obviously, I also have no idea what the correct lyrics are either, lol.
The lyrics are:
Layla, you got me on my knees
Layla, I'm begging darling please
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind
For many years I sang:
Hey Love, you've got me on my knees
Hey Love, I'll beg ya darlin' please
Hey Love, darling won't you ease my worried mind.
No more and no one was any the wiser, until NOW!!
If you have ever seen the movie "27 Dresses" with Katherine Heigl and James Marden singing "Bennie and the Jets" by Elton John, you have to remember how badly they messed with the lyrics. This is one of my favorite parts of the movie and you have to watch it on Youtube if you get a chance..
The lyrics are:
Oh but they're weird and they're wonderful
Oh Bennie she's really keen
She's got electric boots, a mohair suit
You know I read it in a magazine
Bennie and the Jets
They sing:
Oh and the wind and the waterfall
Ooh baby she's a red brigade
She's got electric boobs, ya know her shoes
You know I read it in a magazine
Bennie and the Jets
One of my brothers in law was watching "Mrs Doubtfire" and instead of singing: Aerosmiths' song
"Dude looks like a lady" he sang, "Do the funky lady" and that is now how we sing it today!
Everyone sings "Blinded by the Light", by Manfred Mann lyrics incorrectly:
They wrote:
We all sing:
Come on, you know we all do it.
They wrote:
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a Deuce
Another runner in the night
We all sing:
Blinded by the light
Wrapped up like a douche
Another rumor in the night.
Come on, you know we all do it.
