My granddaughter has started to crawl and the process is fascinating. My kids started with the commando move using feet, knees and elbows. Next, they would get in the crawling position, hands and knees, and rock forward and back, then dive a little forward. Finally, they would move their hands forward and then knees in the traditional crawl. This was followed by the turn and sit, and turn back to a crawl. It has been so much fun each day watching this sweet baby go through this process in her own very unique way.
Baby and PaPa doing the downward dog yoga move.
There was very little commando crawling, but a whole lot of yoga downward dog position. She looked like she was just going to stand up and forget about crawling at all. Then she would get up on her toes like a ballerina. It was hilarious to watch. The video below is her standard crawl.
She just stops in mid crawling for a little yoga.
As the days and weeks went on she started to master the traditional crawl, but would just stop, go into the yoga position, into the goalie splits, and then into a sitting position. Or, she goes from crawl, to yoga, to a half split, then sitting. There are times where she will crawl, go into the yoga downward dog, crossing her legs or stand on her toes, and then go back crawling.
Her half splits and the video below is her hockey split move.

Our girl is pure entertainment and gets extra points for style. We watch her and wonder what she will be when she grows up, a yoga instructor, a ballerina or a hockey goalie? I guess there is really no reason she couldn't do all three!
Wait a minute, could she have already made up her mind?
