For our Cactus and Lace Bridal Shower we needed a cactus cupcake topper. I tried to find some online, but was not successful. So, what do you do when you can't find something you need, make it!

My Cactus Topped Cupcakes |
I found a cute cactus paper punch at Hobby Lobby, and with a 50% off coupon, I was able to get the punch for under $10. I also wanted to bring the lace theme into the toppers so I decided to emboss the paper with a lace embossing plate. I embossed three different wedding colors of card stock and then punched out the cacti.
|
This was the first embossing print I tried and thought it was too large. |
|
This was the embossing pattern I decided to use |
I took one cactus cutout and rolled on the double sided tape down the paper cactus. I then put a toothpick on the bottom of the paper cactus.

Applying the tape to the paper cactus |

Adding the toothpick |
Next, I placed another paper cactus on top the piece with the toothpick and pushed them together. I pinched them together at the top and down along the sides of the toothpick that was in the middle of the paper cactus.
|
Adding the top cutout and apply pressure to get it to stick together |
I took the small flower pieces from the punch and used glue dots to apply a different color flower on each cactus.
|
The final product! |
We purchased bundtinis from "Nothing Bundt Cakes" and then put the cactus toppers in the top of the cupcakes.
So Cute!
